About the workshop:
One in eight children in 2 to 9 years age group in India has at least one of the nine neurodevelopmental disorders. However, there is a large gap in availability of professional experts to treat neurodisability. The Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy (IACP) envisions a reduction in this gap through training of professionals in the field.

The recent inclusion of disability awareness in undergraduate curriculum by Medical Council of India also makes it imperative that student training in our country keeps pace with advances in this field, particularly understanding International Classification of Functioning, Disability & Health, Functional Classification Systems and Family Centred Care across neurodevelopmental disorders.

The International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD) has a global forum called the Global Professional Education Committee (GPEC). The GPEC aims to promote a common global standard of knowledge, training and multi/ inter/ trans-disciplinary practice in the long run. This will help to improve the quality of life and community participation of children and young people with disabilities.
