Services - Forensic Medicine


The department of Forensic medicine and Toxicology is involved in Medicolegal work to aid in the administration of justice, wherein criminal and civil cases are referred by law enforcement agencies such as the police, magistrate or any other concerned authorities. We also provide clinical Forensic medicine services to patients treated here, where the medicolegal aspects of patient care are taken care of.

The department has an Analytical Toxicology Laboratory to provide services for detection and diagnosis of common household and agricultural poisons in patients with poisoning. The objectives of the laboratory is to aid in detection of common substances of poisoning from the body fluids of the patient and enable the treating doctor in identifying the exact poison to enable specific targeted treatment.

MORTUARY SERVICES

Medico Legal Post mortems
Cold storage facility.
Dead body dressing
Embalming

CLINICAL FORENSIC MEDICINE SERVICES

Examination of accused in a case of sexual / physical assault
Issuing wound certificates
Issuing alcohol certificates
Medicolegal age estimation
Weapon examination
Providing expert opinion

TOXICOLOGY SERVICES

Screening for commonly used pesticides and household poisons Cannabis testing in Medicolegal cases

Medico Legal Post mortemare done on Mondays to Saturdays between 9:00 am to 4: 00 PM, and on Sundays & Government holidays between 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
