The Department participates in research spannig various areas in ENT medicine. Some of the prominent work that has been and is being done is below:


  • “Task force Project on Prevalence of hearing impairment” a multicentric ICMR project carried out by Dr. Ramesh A, Professor – Gr II, the South India Principal Investigator for the project.


  • “Pollen Calendar – Rural Vs Urban Bangalore”- PI for this project was Dr Soumya M S. (completed)


  • ‘‘Correlation between airborne pollen incidence, skin prick tests and serum IgE in patients with allergic rhinitis in urban versus rural settings”- project under ICMR (Govt of India).(completed)


  • Paediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnoea: Assessment of predictors and benefits of Surgery in mild OSA-ICMR.(completed)


  • An objective study of the effect of Hatha Yogasanas on nasal and bronchial airway resistances -ICMR.(completed)


  • “Mesenchymal stem cell derived inner ear hair cells used for assessment of ototoxicity and oto-protection in vitro” SERB (Govt of India)- ongoing


  • A randomized, double blind, parallel group study comparing the Efficacy and Safety of Hexylresorcinol 2.4 mg, lozenges and FDC of Hexylresorcinol 2.5 mg and Benzalkonium chloride 1.2 mg. Lozenges with demulcent placebo lozenges in relieving pain of sore throat due to upper respiratory tract infection-Remedia Pharma (Clinical Trial) - (completed)
