Career Options:

With the massive step up in urbanization and numerous hospitals (Private & Government), diagnostic centres and clinics being established across the length and breadth of the country, there is a dearth in the number of skilled and qualified professionals in Radiology. The medical centres in India open up a lot of scope and jobs for Radiography graduates. Individuals are hired for different positions as follows:

• Radiology Technologist/Radiographer: A radiographer is a professional who is responsible for performing various radiological imaging for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients for different injuries and diseases.
• Ultrasound Technician/ Sonographer: An Ultrasound Technician is a professional who is responsible for operating and acquiring images using ultrasound machines in order to generate images of internal organs of patients.
• CT/MR Technologist: CT and MRI technicians operate the CT and MRI scanners to acquire images for the radiologists to report. They work under the guidance of qualified radiologists.
• Nuclear Medicine Technologists: Represents the cutting edge of radiology with some institutes presenting this concentration in master’s after this. Graduates can find positions as nuclear radiation technologists or assistants, depending on their degree level. This even prepares graduates to sit for certification exams offered by ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
• Radiology assistant: Radiology assistants are medical professionals who assist radiologists in the interpretation and application of radiological images. They may also be called upon to perform some basic procedures on their own. Radiology assistants work closely with radiologists and other medical professionals to ensure that all patients receive the best possible care.
• Clinical Application Specialist: A clinical application specialist (CAS) helps health organizations and machine manufacturers to develop, research, plan, implement and support new equipment’s and software applications. From proposal to launch, they work directly with the healthcare professionals who use the software, training and supporting the staff on the program.
• Post B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology programme aspirants are eligible to work as a Tutor, Lab assistant or course coordinator at a Medical College and after completing higher education i.e., M.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology / PhD they are eligible for higher posts in academical institutions.
