Fellowship in Arthroscopy & Sports Injury


St. John’s Medical College, under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences, announces the starting of Fellowship in Sports Injury & Arthroscopy. This recurring program is for a period of one and half year (1 & ½ year) commencing in the month of September. The intake to this program is for upto 4 candidates with MS/DNB in Orthopaedics and preferably two years Professional Experience after Post Graduation. Selected candidates will assist the department in Clinical and Research work.

The institution eventually plans to become a Super Specialty Centre for Management of Sports Injury.

1. Who runs the programme?
The programme is run by the Department of Orthopaedics – Division of Sports Injury & Arthroscopy at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore

2. Who can participate / eligible
Candidates should have completed minimum of 2 years of Senior Residency post MS Ortho / DNB Ortho

3. Incentives and benefits of the programme
Will have access to teaching & cadaver section run by the department, Indian Arthroscopy Society and Karnataka Arthroscopy Society Will have one time chance of attending any one ISAKOS approved course on concessional rate (under consideration) Accommodation at affordable cost Stipend as per Rajiv Gandhi University guidelines

4. Strength of the programme
Premier institute open to exploring, innovating & implementing new concepts Structured training under diverse trained faculty – In house, India and Overseas. Access & training by additional affiliated institutions in & around Bangalore for

Eg: Asian Institute of Arthroscopy, sports injury & Research Private Ltd., Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Sports injury, SBS Hospital, Hosur.

She will be recommended for overseas programme at the end of satisfactory completion of fellowship programme

5. Cost of the programme
Approximately Rs. 40,000/- for the entire course or as instructed by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences , Caution deposit refundable Rs. 50,000/-

6. Duration of fellowship
18 months with an opportunity to do clinical & fundamental research

7. Disincentive of the programme
1. Candidate will be on probationary period of one month, if found unsatisfactory concerning (work, behavior, ethics, failure to be good member), he may be asked to leave the programme and he/ she will forfeit the caution deposit (Sum of Rs. 50,000/-)

2. He/ She will not be considered for the same programme for the next 2 years

8. Will they be penalised if they withdraw from the programme
Yes

He/ She have to intimate 3 months prior to discontinuing the programme and would forfeit the caution deposit
